Harmony Pilates perspective
Pilates at it’s truest sense is a sophisticated system of movement meant to strengthen, heal, stretch ALL bodies. However with the advent of social media, etc, it has become a misconception that only a certain body type can participate in a Pilates practice. Harmony Pilates recognizes it is nonsensical to subscribe to the belief a body is supposed to look a certain way, particularly women’s bodies. We come in all shapes, curves, heights, widths and this should be celebrated. Bodies change and morph naturally through life; Pilates is key in keeping healthy through these transitions. I focus on realistic, positive body acceptance and moving for the sake of feeling good. Particularly since the world experienced 2020. We need some healing. Rather than movement that is forced, stressed and painful, my perspective is movement that heals. My goal is to boost the mental to therefore strengthen the physical being to therefore living your best potential.
“I sought out a core strengthening option upon the direction of my physiatrist who was treating me for disc herniation and lower back pain. Being body aware, active in cheer and dance almost my whole life, he suggested Pilates. Upon meeting Megan I knew this was the instructor for me; asking all the clarifying questions (even in my late 20's you forget injuries) and making sure I was engaged in the process the whole time. I have yet to work with a practitioner who has "moved with me" through so many life and body challenges : back tweaks, pregnancy, torn labrums, hip replacements and even sprained ankles. Every session Megan comes in with a direction of where the session could go and then with years of training and flexibility will pivot and meet you exactly where you are that day. .But don't get me wrong here folks, she will push and challenge you. all the while you are getting stronger and more mindful of the way you move your body.
Megan is wise, kind, a bad ass body expert, knowledgeable and a love to work with.”
